It’s impossible not to get excited about a project brief when it includes images of Sylvester Stallone, mirror-like aviators, and sci-fi dystopian worlds. Detroit based production studio FreeAge approached us to create a new identity system for them so we got to work making grimey and gritty logos and fleshed out some well-worn corridors for their logo to wash a healthy coat of neon over.
We began this process through a series of logo explorations. After playing with varying degrees of grit and polish we landed on a logo that channeled a strong vibe of 1980’s nostalgia, a dash of dystopian future, and some contemporary flair. The neon tube inspired mark was then translated into a reel intro, business cards, letterheads, a project slate, a series of document templates, and, finally, a glorious neon sign oozing a purple glow across the FreeAge offices.
